Agua de Melon/ Cantaloupe Water

This is a favorite in my parent’s home because agua de melon is so smooth and subtlety sweet. Like most aguas, this one requires three ingredients, cantaloupe, sugar and water…oh and we can’t forget the ice! This is actually one of my sister’s favorite agua fresca (this one is for you Nani!) and recently became my son’s favorite too which was great. You can definitely make this ahead of time and refrigerate to keep it cold and refreshing or blend it up when you have extra cantaloupe around and have no clue what else to do with it!

Yields: 2 Liters Total Time: 15 Minutes

  • 1 Large Cantaloupe (6-8 Cups)
  • 1 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 4-5 Cups Water

In a blender add cantaloupe, about 1/4-1/2 cup of sugar and water, blend on high until smooth.

*The reason I add a little bit of the sugar is because I want to be able to control the sweetness whether the cantaloupe is already very sweet or not sweet enough.
*You might have to make this in batches!

Strain the cantaloupe juice in a pitcher or large container (measuring cup) to separate the thick pulp from the liquid.

*I took and extra step here! You can skip this and just add the remaining sugar and mix until dissolved.

*I like my aguas pretty pulp free, so I strain it one last time into a pitcher, then I add the remaining sugar and taste test to make sure it’s to my liking.

Add ice or refrigerate until ready to serve.
