So, for a while now I’ve been wanting to start blogging. In the past, I did a miserable attempt. I was embarrassed, nervous and really just terrified of ANYONE reading what I had to write. It also didn’t help that I had no clue what to blog about! Fast forward a couple of years, I got the courage to start writing.
Going back to not knowing what to write about, I narrowed it down to what matters the most in my life and my additional love sand passions; family and cooking. Okay, let me tell you really quick about myself and family. My name is Erika, I am a wife and stay-at-home mother. I grew up helping my mom in the kitchen, and my childhood career dream was to be a chef. While that didn’t work out, I continued to be a home cook, continue learning and serve the best people ever..my family!
I have been married over 6 years to my husband Sergio. Like any marriage, it’s been a roller coaster but a fun and exciting roller coaster! He is currently active duty in the U.S. Air Force and is the funniest guy ever! Very generous, kind and best of all supportive. He has a strong sarcastic side to him which taught me to become witty and fast on my feet. Most of the time I tend to ignore his “roasts” since I have no good come backs, but when I do the latter, its always a gut puncher to him and I think he loves it! He is so much and more to me, his daily dose of laughter and love has really brightened up my life.
In 6 years we have been blessed with two amazing and beautiful children, Javier and Ximena. They are definitely each other yin and yang! Javi (5) My first born taught me unconditional love and was the drive on many aspects of my life. He is sweet, kind, loving, sensitive,generous, non-confrontational and extremely caring.(really just all the nicest qualities you can think of!). My Xime (2) is the complete opposite! Although she shares qualities such as being emotionally intuitive like her brother, she is much stronger and independent! She is a sassy, smart, determined, a funny little girl, who stands her own and holds her ground. She is one extreme or the other, either wants nothing to do with you or she loves to be loved, I guess it depends what mood she wakes up on.
So here is why and what my blogging is coming about! In the past 10 years I have worked on getting my bachelors degree. From the moment I graduated high school I knew I had to do it. There were plenty of obstacles, both good and bad that could have halted my education, but they were just stepping stones! Of course I’ll touch much deeper on my obstacles or stepping stones another time, but for now I am just celebrating the fact that as of November 6th 2018 I finally earned my bachelors degree in Human Resources Management!!!
After so much work and dedication, the big question comes to mind, what to do now?? Well the most obvious thing is get a job! But while I wait for a call back, I’m just sitting here on my comfy couch. As much as I love to be a couch potato I want to put my brain to work for a bit. Soooo let’s write! I’m not the best writer, but it’s something I actually enjoy to do. There’s nothing more that I love than my family, so there’s my inspiration! And my biggest passion and what i feel quite decent in is cooking, so there’s my platform!
As I hop on to blog, I will write about my family. The things we do and the good food I make for them. Really, just a little bit of everything! This blog is just for fun! Putting all of my thoughts, advice, ideas and inspiration in one place. A place where I can indulge in being a homecook at heart.
